AVL Demonstration: PebbleGo by Kaylee Howard

Throughout exploration of the Alabama Virtual Library's resources, I was able to further discover the database PebbleGo. This online research database is a kid-friendly platform allowing young learners to research different topics with ease. PebbleGo contains articles organized within four main topics: animals, biographies, science, and social studies. Within these topics, articles present a variety of information avaialble for students to research. PebbleGo is most useful in elementary-age students, ranging from 1st grade to 5th grade. Overall, its accessibility, resources, and information makes it very useful and applicable for supporting research in the elementary setting. As a first grade teacher, I believe this resource could easily be incorporated as an extension activity to allow students to independently research topics. I would love to use this during our social studies units to discover more about important American figures.

  1. Hey Kaylee, I enjoyed your AVL demonstration video! I am a 5th grade teacher and I think my students could even benefit from this website. I do think it is more geared towards students k-3, however I believe my students would benefit from the vocabulary aspect of the website. I searched around on the website for a bit and found several awesome resources I could use to help reinforce some science vocabulary with my students. Thanks so much for sharing about this website!
