One resource that I found on the Alabama Virtual Library was EBSCO's History Reference Source. This resource is very helpful in discovering information for your research on historical events, people, and eras. There are hundreds of thousands of articles, books, journals, newspapers, and videos that are academically valid and reliable. These resources are a great option for academic research for an academic project. For example, in my AP World History class, I would give my students this link and source to use to find academic writing about a certain topic. They could filter through the database, searching for their specific topic with ease. This resource has easy search options and allows you to adjust filters for full text and PDF options. This resource would be perfectly useful for secondary education, including middle school, high school, and university students.
Hey Ridge,
ReplyDeleteYour Alabama Virtual Library screencast was very insightful, and you made navigating the EBSCO History Reference Source look approachable and straightforward. I especially appreciated how you demonstrated the search and filter features, which would be helpful for your first-year high school students, who are still learning how to conduct academic research. This resource is beneficial not just for history classes, but also for cross-curricular projects where students need to gather credible background information. One suggestion might be to include a quick demonstration of how to cite a source directly from the database, since that’s often a challenge for students. Overall, your tutorial made the resource feel accessible and valuable for both students and educators.
