AVL Demonstration- Galileo Teen By Bailey Arnaud

The database I chose to demonstrate was Galileo Teen which can be accessed through Cobb County's Digital Library. This database along with many other resources is free for all Cobb County students. Galileo Teen is a database for teenagers of the state of Georgia and is used as a digital library. This particular database is meant for middle to high school students for research and learning. It offers other databases, journal articles, magazine articles, scholarly articles, Encyclopedia, eBooks, and more. Our school has something called SPEAR which stands for Support, Preparation, Extension, Acceleration, and Remediation. This is a time during the school day to ensure all students learn critical knowledge and skills at high levels, and I would use Galileo Teen during SPEAR sessions giving students current events to research or just going over how to use the database. They will be able to use this knowledge for future classes and into college.

  1. Hey Bailey! I really enjoyed seeing how Cobb County provides free digital tools through their school district site! What an awesome resource for students and teachers! I loved how you walked us through Galileo Teen and gave a clear comparison between the classic and bento searches. I totally agree that the bento view made things easier to navigate. I did feel a little like I was on a bit of a wild goose chase bouncing from CobbK12 to Galileo Teen to Explora, haha, but I also appreciated getting to see how layered and versatile the whole system is. Your tutorial definitely showed how many credible and student-friendly resources are out there if you know where to look!
