Alabama Virtual Library Demonstration

I chose the Gail in Context Elementary database. This database was very well presented. It is user friendly and provides many different topics for students to chose from. This would be a great resource to use for a research project. There are book, news, pictures, and videos available for students to utilize. Each topic that you select also provides different books, magazines, pictures and videos to go along with your subject. This resource would benefit grades k-6. I teach 4th grade and I plan to use this in my science class to facilitate a research project for plants.

  1. I also chose the Gail in Context: Elementary database. I teach 4th-grade, too, and I agree this resource is very user friendly. I teach reading so my focus was on the database as a tool to do further research to accompany nonfiction stories and as an exploration tool to encourage reading in general. The stories being leveled, printable, and linkable make this database a valuable tool for teachers as well as students. I like that you pointed out the pictures of labeled and blank diagrams of plants. I am going to share that with my grade level science teacher.
