I chose to explore and learn more about Gale In Context: Elementary. I was drawn to how visual and interactive the database was. I also liked the “I Wonder” button, which is random but encourages students to follow their interests. I feel like Gale In Context will encourage students to explore, read, and learn more. My students already use the Capstone database on the AVL website. I am going to introduce my fourth-graders to the Gale in Context database as a resource for research projects as well as an option for brain breaks after their assignments are completed. The database is levelized and has many features such as audio options. This allows for students in early elementary grades to explore the database. It is also in depth enough to be engaging for students in the upper elementary grades. It has several features such as Display Options and Translate that make it ideal for students that need accommodations. The Gale In Context: Elementary database is a great resource for teachers and students.
I chose the same resource for this assignment. I thought your video was well planned and thought out. This resource was something that I feel I could also use in the classroom. I like your idea about adding the brain break after the assignment is completed by using the "I Wonder" section.
ReplyDeleteYour video had a very visually appealing opening. I liked how you showed how you currently use it in your classroom by showing your class wakelet. The way you incorporate this into your classroom seems to work well. I really liked how you could pull up the correct "cite" for your students which is showing them young how to appropriately cite sources. Great job!
