Lori Deerman's AVL Screencast of Pebble GO!
Pebble Go is a content hub for younger elementary students. It is has informational articles, activities, read-aloud features, and illustrations that support young readers. It is an engaging resource for research projects done in grade levels kindergarten through second grade. It focuses on science and math subject areas while allowing students to practice reading and research standards. I love how child-friendly this resource is for children who are beginning readers and scientists!
Lori, thanks for that video on Pebble Go! I have never worked in the elementary school environment, and I don't have kids of my own, so I'm honestly pretty unfamiliar with educational resources for children. This resource seems simple and easy to use for kids, and I certainly see how it creates engagement. When I was little, I can remember getting bored with computer programs our class used because they sort of lead nowhere. This program seems adaptive and perfect for use within a larger information-gathering task.
ReplyDeleteThis video on Pebble Go was easy follow. Pebble go is tailored to students that are no readers or have difficulty reading. Students can hover over the icon to hear what it is about. I love that. It only offered animals and science which it is a great beginning for lower grades. It is very simple to maneuver and not overwhelming. I appreciated this video because I have never heard of Pebble Go. Now I have another resource to take back to my students. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI love PebbleGo! I will admit, as a second grade teacher, I have not used it as much as a should. It is a great resource to introduce students to research. I enjoy that the articles are small paragraphs and split onto separate pages so that the students do not get overwhelmed. However, I do wish there were more categories for them to choose from. I can't wait to use this with my students this year!
