AVL Demo- Chase Cheaney

 AVL- PBS LearningMedia

For my Alabama Virtual Library demonstration, I chose to use the PBS LearningMedia database. This database offers a wide range of educational resources for teachers, students and parents. These resources include videos, interactive lessons, games, and other digital content designed to support K-12 education across a variety of subjects. In my current job, I could use this database to assign resources to my students to view/complete for supplemental help on content they may be struggling with. I could also use the video options to introduce topics to my students. There are so many great options from this resource, the possibilities are endless.

  1. It's wonderful to hear about your choice of the PBS LearningMedia database for your Alabama Virtual Library demonstration. PBS LearningMedia is indeed a valuable resource that provides a wide range of educational materials suitable for teachers, students, and parents. Your description of the database's offerings, including videos, interactive lessons, games, and other digital content, highlights its versatility in supporting K-12 education across various subjects.

The practical applications you mentioned for your current job are fantastic. Assigning resources from this database to your students for supplemental help is a great way to cater to individual learning needs and provide extra support where it's needed. Additionally, using the video options to introduce topics can make learning engaging and dynamic, which is especially important for K-12 students.

  2. Chase, I enjoyed your presentation about the PBS LearningMedia database. I really enjoy resources that include videos from other educators because not all of my students might learn well with my teaching style. This resource would allow me to expose my students to other teaching and learning styles to, hopefully, benefit them. Even though I teach at the college level, I've found my students get a lot out of activities for lower grade levels. Again, thanks for exposing me to this resource!
